GoLive CS 2 Review
New Site & Template Options
Has several different 'sites' that are predefined similar to the wizards in FrontPage but much more extensive. Options include:
Site
- Create a site - blank, from existing content and form a site locator file (aglsl, whatever that is)
- Connect to a Site - for sites using versioning - Version Cue ships with GoLive CS
- Web Samples - has 5 different types of sites DJ, Landscaping, Magazine, Wireless Industry and Writer Blog In clicking though the descriptions there appears to a heavy reliance on tables
- Mobile Samples - has 7 different types of sites:
- Ad Intranet,
- Creative writing (collaborative site),
- Designer Portfolio,
- Feature Film,
- Mobile Industry (extension to the Wireless Sample),
- Translate (thesaurus for travelers), and
- Wine site
- Scripting Samples - include:
- Guestbook
- Ecommerce site
- Co-Author Samples -
- Blog
- Mobile city guide
- Further Samples - which offer 8 sample sites with simple layouts and sites intended to be easily customized including:
- Newsletter designs,
- Alternative layouts for web store,
- Company brochure site,
- Intranet along,
- Several one page templates.
Web
- Page samples with no content but include template pages - note that by default the pages are XHTML
- Framesets - the less said the better
- Page Samples CSS have 10 sample layouts
- Page Samples Tables- has over 50 sample layouts
- Page Samples Blogs has another 7
- CSS - 26 stylesheets plus a blank stylesheet
- Images - not much other than a listing of available image file types
- Multimedia - documents with code for various media players - window media is conspicuously missing from the choice of SMIL, QuickTime Movie, QuickTime Skin, Real Player, RealPix and SWF
Mobile
- XHTML basic page for mobile phones and game systems
- i-mode EU Page
- i-mode J Page or Japan for the NTT DoCoMo gateway uses dHTML
- CSS - blank page only
- Multimedia - 3GPP Movie type and SVG Tiny Image type
- Ringtone Samples - 7 samples
Scripting
- Pages - give you blank asp, jsp and php pages
- Scripts - gives you a blank page prepared for QuicTime, CGI, JavaScript and Perl Script
- Other - includes RSS, robots.txt, plain text, XML, htaccess and .htpasswd
- PHP Solutions - Guestbook and Online shop, noticably missing are any sort of form to email processing script though one of the pages in the shop sample may include a form to email script but it isn't clear without installing it

Advanced URL Handling
I selected coauthor_blog for test site and the url options came up when the Advanced button was selected

After making the selections form the Advanced URL Dialog Box above I let GoLive create the site. Which can be viewed here.
