GoLive CS 2 Review

Publishing

syched files list

The site as created by GoLive with no editing of any sort is available for view in the golive-blog section of this site.

The default index.html page created weighs in at a hefty 85k. When the page is saved in Firefox several of the images are missing and the file size drops to 58k and looks a bit strange when viewed.

The folder created on my computer is 48.8 mb. When using the 'synchronize' command to publish the files published to my web server were 30.6 mb.

Contrast that with a Wordpress install of 1.08 including all documentation.

Next thing to note is that even though GoLive created all these folders and a few links between the pages when you click on the images under ‘recent photos’ in the default install as published in the golive-blog folder of this site a 404 occurs.

When I edit the site as part of creating this review I plan on fixing that problem. Also, note in the file list the number of tif files generated. While tif files are good for archiving originals they should never have been uploaded to the website when the site was published since very few, if any, web browser will display the files without a plug-in.
