InDesign CS 2
Some people know I have written a book "Introduction to Web Design With FrontPage 2003" that is available at starttoweb.com as an ebook.
The book was orginally written in Microsoft Word 2003 the published using Acrobat 7 as a PDF. This worked well for the version intended to be read online but once I went to change it to something for printing as a workbook pagination and image wrapping problems arose.
Since I had purchased the entire Adobe Creative Suite 2 which included one of the best page layout tools "InDesign" I figured it was time to learn to use it. So I began by opening the program. Only to find that I was unable to read any of the panels in the program workspace.

The first thing I noticed was how small the text is on the side panels. Since I have Windows set for large fonts the standard toolbar across the top is quite legible on my tablet at its default resolution. However, the sidebars do not seem to respond to my Windows setttings. I pulled out my screen ruler and checked the size of the introfp in the lower right panel.
The "i" is 7px high. On my tablet that is 140px to a physical inch. So if you do the math that works out to between 3 & 4 pts, in other words what you see on the back of a medicine botte. So off I trotted to the Adobe website to see how to resize that text to something readable after not finding anything in the help file or the pdf of the program documentation.
I couldn't find anything on the Adobe support area so my next step was the Adobe forums for InDesign. There I found others had made the same complaint. The only response I could find was 'get a second monitor with a lower screen resolution and put your panels on it.' This response was given to people with a 21"Apple Cinema Studio. Exactly the sort of people who you would expect to be the target market for InDesign. The same people who purchased a 21' cinema display so they would not NEED to monitors.
